Hi I’m Laura Lilien

LCSW, PMH-C
I am a perinatal mental health psychotherapist with 19 years of experience supporting individuals and families. You deserve a judgment-free space to share your story, be understood, and feel supported—by someone who truly gets it.

My Story
I am a mom of two young children, and while my passion for child behavior and effective parenting strategies began long before parenthood, it has certainly been tested through the daily challenges of raising little ones. My personal journey as a mom—including a difficult postpartum experience—has made me deeply committed to maternal mental health. After experiencing a Perinatal Mood and Anxiety Disorder (PMAD) following the birth of my second child, I expanded my work to include women, parents, and birthing people who have faced trauma and/or loss in the perinatal and postpartum journey. I wanted to become the provider I once needed—because this kind of specialized care can be so hard to find.

Balancing work, parenting, and personal passions has required me to lean on the same tools I share with my clients: strategies for easing the mental load and navigating domestic labor. My professional background has always been centered on supporting students and families. As a special education teacher, I learned how to connect with people of all ages, abilities, and backgrounds. As a school social worker, I became an expert collaborator and consultant—partnering with staff, parents, caregivers, and families. I especially loved running a teen center on a high school campus, organizing school-wide events, and coordinating mental health services. I also work in early intervention, supporting children ages 0–3 and their families navigating language or behavioral delays.
Becoming a perinatal therapist and building my own private practice is one of my proudest accomplishments!
Outside of the therapy room, you’ll often find me dancing! I love taking class and performing Hip Hop, House, and Locking styles—whether at street dance events or in playful battles against my kids in the living room. Movement and dance is a big part of who I am, and I enjoy weaving it into therapy sessions whenever possible.
